About Meera
I love creating eco-friendly, hand-bound books and zines—printed on recycled paper with plant-based inks.
My name means Ocean in Sanskrit.
I create a variety of books and zines that celebrate diverse nonfiction topics — such as vegan cooking, American-Gujarati culture, science, and music history. I also write fiction that is experimental, magical realist, or surrealist.
I have an educational background in healthcare. For several years, I worked hard in the hospital world. But deep down, I knew my sensitivity and creativity were never going to be rewarded in a typical 9-5 hospital environment. Corporate politics wasn’t for a softie like me!

I craved work that was very creative and independent. For a while, I struggled to find a way to make a living in writing and the arts. I wondered if it was even possible to put food on the table this way.
I had some long stretches of eating instant ramen like a college student, struggling to pay bills, and wondering if this was even a good idea. But I couldn’t go back to the conventional world of healthcare I had left behind.

I decided to teach writing part-time to sustain myself while I learned the traditional arts of book-binding and print-making. When I finally shared my stories, others told me that they really enjoyed reading my work.
Today, I get to do what I love and write full-time. I love to create handmade books, zines, and more that brings joy to others. Much gratitude to all the people who read my stories and became amazing supporters. As promised, I’ll keep you up-to-date on new releases.
That’s the story of how Meera’s Books came to be. I would like to make my content as accessible as possible to all— so if you have any additional requests for accessibility, please contact me here!
